My Cubbie Boys

You all probably know by now that I was asked to move from JV girls to Cubbie boys for AWANA. No, it wasn't because they didn't think I was mature enough to be with the junior high girls it was just because they needed a "mom" figure in the room. I happened to get all of my close friends boys. Which is great, or it is now. They are getting used to the fact that when I'm teaching I'm their teacher and not a friend, and when we are outside of AWANA then we can play around. Tonight was great! They all seemed to pay attention to most of what I had to say, they all knew their verses and weekly review verses, then...we had down time. You know time to color their projects and you know burp and the "other". Oh yes, I was at "Little boy bathroom noises" central. The first burp was kind-of funny to me and very very funny to the other boys not burping. Then it seemed as if burps were coming at me from the East and the West. So, Mrs. Michelle put on the serious face and just stared at the ceiling until they were ready to stop. Hayden was the first to say, "I'm being good now", then Sean, "I'm not going to burp like them", and then my precious Dalton, "Well, I'm not done burping and I think Hayden and Sean need to burp some more too!" So then it began again. Honestly, if it were just me, I might have played along with them, but I have a reputation to uphold in that room "My boys will listen to me, don't worry I won't have any problems" <--yeah, I said that. If anyone can get ahold of a diagram that shows an AWANA leader inserting her foot in her mouth, please let me know where I can get a copy ;) I love your boys! Gross noises and all, it makes my time sitting in the kiddie chair that my boo-tay hangs off of more interesting :)

Daddy's day off

Ken dropped Alli off at school this morning then went on to do a ministry project he does on the streets on his day off now. Landon and I took our time getting ready and then met him at "Buckies" for some caffeene. Landon was a little restless after a couple of hits off my iced mocha but it wasn't too bad...which brings me to add this: Starbucks does not own a highchair, or at least not ours, I think I just might write a letter, not that I'm mad, its just a suggestion. But then again I'm probably the only mom who has thought...I think I'll take my 9 month old out for coffee. So... no letter shall I write.

Anyway, after coffee Ken went to pick up Alli and they met Landon and I back in town for lunch, which was yummy and again a bit distracting, but none the less I enjoyed our time tog
ether. I love family time. We have been so busy lately that we haven't gotten much of it, so it was nice to be together again. After lunch we went to Nana and Pops pond and Ken fished with the kids as best as he could. The weather was so nice this morning, we just assumed it would have stayed that way, but by 1:30pm it was quite warm. Add to that a sleepy and cranky 3 year old, and a 9 month old that had been in a carseat or highchair all day and wanted to be set free...a recipie for bad moods, is what that all was.

We made our hike back about 2:30pm, headed home where the babies went to sleep and Ken and I had free time to
ourselves. It wasn't that bad, and I got some pretty cute pictures, and you all know that makes a bad day good when its all said and done.

Claycomb Storyboards

20x20
10x8
10x20
10x20
Emily,
Take a look at the storyboards and let me know if any of these are what you might be going for. I will make any changes necessary just let me know. There are (2) 10x20 boards, (1) 10x8 board, and (1) 20x20 board. The 10x20 is the classic size and most popular, they will be at the discounted price of $55.00 ea. However, the 20x20 board is a larger print therefore my cost is higher, I will print it at $80.00 (discounted). Now the 10x8 board is a smaller print at $40.00. You can comment below with your ideas or your decision, or email me at kmaljenkins@yahoo.com. Thank You, Michelle

Livy and Landon Time

Livy was at our house for a few hours this morning which was fun for all of us. They all play so well together. Alli was at school for a bit of the time she was with us, but as far as Landon goes, he loves his extra playmate. I enjoyed watching them play together. When I was pregnant with Landon I was in California when I got the call that Amy and Dale had a new little baby girl in their home. Livy was only supposed to be there for a couple of days, but we have all been able to have her sweetness for quite a bit longer. As I got bigger and bigger I kept thinking about how Livy, and Connor and Landon would all play together as time went on and now its here. She's walking around and he's just crawling, but it won't be long before they are walking, holding hands out to the play set at Nana and Pop's house.

Ken and Landon

I was showing Ken some new color tricks I'm doing now and he was saying how handsome Landon was...I told him, well you know who he looks like, and of course I meant him. Yeah, his hair may be blonde which at first glance you may think me, but I had to take a picture of one of Kens baby pics to compare, and yeah, I definatley see Ken, take a look for yourself...

My baby is growing up

Yesterday was Landon's 9 month mark, I can't believe it! Already. Our little boy is waving bye-bye, crawling all about, kissing you as sloppy as possible, and clapping his fists together. Oh, they just don't stay little long, and this is why some people continue to have babies. Well I tried to have a shoot with him today, but it was one of those times where they just don't want to look at the camera, plus I tried to get it in quick after his bath and before his nap. Nope, no cooperation. Anyway the ones I got were cute enough for now, I'll try again later to get something good enough to print and hang later this week.

Suzanna Wesley

I was reading through a bible study today during my quiet time and came across this, I thought I would share.
This woman had 19 children, 10 of them lived until adulthood. She found an unusual way to be alone with God each day. She would flip her apron up over her head and the children knew not to bother her because she was praying. She prayed each day for one hour, and also commited to spending time with each child for spiritual training for one hour each week. Her son, John Wesley is the founder of the Methodist Church, and Charles wrote many beautiful hymns we still sing today.

Here are the sixteen rules Suzanna established over 200 years ago for rering children:

1. Eating between meals is not allowed
2. As children they are to be in bed by 8 pm
3. They are required to take medicine without complaining
4. They are to subdue their self-will so that they might be open to God's salvation
5. Teach a child to pray as soon as he can speak
6. Require all to be still during family worship
7. Give them nothing they cry for, and only that which they ask for politely
8. To prevent lying, punish no fault which is first confessed and repented
9. Never allow a sinful act to go unpunished
10. Never punish a child twice for a single offense
11. Commend and reward good behavior
12. Any attempt to please, even if poorly performed should be commended
13. Preserve property rights, even in smallest matters
14. Strictly observe all promises
15. Require no daughter to work before she can read well
16. Teach children to reverence God

I love these! I would love to hear what you think of them. Oh and as a shout out this is from Wisdom for Mothers, held on Sunday nights at 4:30 (I think), Kristy Merrill is leading it so if you want to join in that would be great, I think we are only 3 or 4 studies into it.

New Toy

I hope you guys arn't getting tired of looking at these storyboards. I know my mom likes my stuff, its just that I got a new toy, the newness will wear off soon, and I'll probably just put up a storyboard here or there from various sessions. What am I saying? I might not be able to stop. If anyone other than Ken notices a big problem with this, please sign me up for Photoshop Addicts Annonymous.
